Oil Paint, Emulsion Paint & Metal Paint on Canvas.
61cm x 61cm

There is a playful nature to abstract painting here with the use of naïve colours that would be associated with childhood. The bold shapes are able to synchronise the composition, using the fluid brush marks of the purple oil paint to rest well within the work. Rowell has decided against stretching canvas on the board here and has instead worked straight onto the wooden surface, with the edges of the board on display. This raw technique is used to not only allow the viewer to engage with the material selection, but for the wood to compliment the childlike nature to the painting.
